|About||Cadiz Design Studio has enjoyed success in designing and building prestigious projects over the past ten years. The firm has earned a reputation for creative design in the Hospitality and Commercial sectors with formidable clients in the past years due to the leadership of founder and principal, Lorraine Francis. Lorraine has committed to environmentally responsible design over the past 20 years and Cadiz Design Studio has expanded to include sustainable design and building services.
Lorraine Francis was an Associate at Gensler from 1989 to 1999, one of the world’s leading architecture and interior design firms. Her experience includes Hospitality, Entertainment, Airports, Commercial and Retail projects. After her tenure at Gensler, Lorraine founded her own company in 1999. She brought together a talented team of professionals in architecture, interior design, visualization and product design, all with an emphasis on sustainability.
Notable hospitality projects which Lorraine and her team have completed include: the elegant Aji Spa at Sheraton’s Wild Horse Pass Resort; a five-star, 45,000 SF Spa for Starwood’s Phoenician Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona; a 50,000 SF Ballroom for the Phoenician Resort; Room renovations at Sheraton’s Wild Horse Pass Resort; an ongoing renovation at Sheraton Kauai Resort, Poipu; a Spa for the Beverly Hills Hotel and Merv Griffin’s Resort Hotel and Givenchy Spa in Palm Springs.
Entertainment and restaurant projects include the prestigious Grant Grill Restaurant in the $60 million newly renovated historical hotel in San Diego, California; and Sound Studios and Theatre for NT Audio. Lorraine\’s team has also completed designs for Kandoo Films, Financial News Network, Laemmle Theatres, Daily Grill Restaurant and Juice it Up chain.
There is a broad scope of commercial projects that Cadiz has been awarded which include, but are not limited to, Warner Bros, Goldman Sachs, California National Bank and Ares Management.
Lorraine led many large scale Airport Terminal projects when at Gensler. Her resume includes terminals for Salt Lake City, Palm Springs, Miami, Austin, Guam, Seoul and the Delta terminal at LAX. Her San Diego Terminal 2 Expansion won her the shared honor of the AIA Award of Merit.
Lorraine has been invited to speak at various conferences in the past including the HD expo in Las Vegas. Within her local community, she is the Chair of the Hospitality Committee for the USGBC – Orange County chapter and is a LEED accredited professional for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.
Ms. Francis’ attention to the beauty in architecture and design, and her continued demand for excellence have rewarded her with the dedication and following of many respectable clients in a multitude of sectors. Her passion for great design has also afforded her numerous opportunities assisting leading manufacturers with product design. She has designed textiles for Unika Vaev, carpets for Monterey and Lees and light fixtures for Orgatech+Omegalux and Prudential Lighting.
Lorraine holds a Bachelor of Environmental Design from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She also studied architecture for a year in Florence, Italy with Syracuse University. Lorraine was born and raised in New York, NY and currently resides with her family in Irvine, California.
